Saved by “standard” batteries
We’re in Palo Alto for the holidays, staying with Jill’s folks. On the big day, with everyone gathered for the exchanging of gifts, I thought I would get my camera out. At that moment, I could visualize my battery in the charger back home. Unfortunately I couldn’t visualize where my spare battery was. Happily, Jill’s nephew Martin has a D200 and it uses the same battery as my D700, so I was able to take a few photos while everyone was getting organized before returning it to him for his own use during the actual event.
Even more fortunate for me, he was heading back to DC and his own spare battery, so he was able to leave his battery with me. We met Jill’s friend Willa at the Legion of Honor museum in San Francisco and afterwards I went out and took a few photos, including this one here, looking out to the ocean.
