Photo with Voigtlander 180mm
Here is a photo from my 180mm lens. In reviewing the film I used to test it, I see that I need to raise my game. On the Olympus, shooting at f11, since it had a half size sensor, everything was always in focus – even when my big zoom was giving an effective focal length of 400mm. Not so with a long lens on “full frame”. It might not be apparent here, but the top right doesn’t seem very clear to me. I will have to start carrying DOF tables and paying attention and considering the trade-offs of extra in-focus and diffraction. Simply sticking to f11 when I am not trying to isolate a subject it seems will not work. Which is of course why I want tilt but then it would be a different composition if I had used my 85mm here (even if I had put it on the 1.4 teleconverter that I don’t have yet).
